Our Sign
The sign near our front entrance on Butterfield Road was an unfortunate casualty of the 60-70 mph wind gusts on Friday the 18th of June. While it's blown over please take extra care to watch out for our entry way a few hundred feet from Glenbard South High School. We hope to have the sign repaired or a temporary replacement up as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!!
Dr. Paul Kopka named St. Luke Interim Pastor
Hi, Members and Friends of St. Luke, one and all --
I am pleased to announce that last Sunday the Church Council approved the hiring of Dr. Paul Kopka as our Interim Pastor.
This morning, Dick Weber and I finalized the covenant and financial arrangements. He will "officially" be our full-time interim pastor beginning next Tuesday, March 16th. Pastor Robin Currie has encouraged me to get him started as soon as possible, so this will be her second and last Sunday as a supply pastor for St. Luke. I sure have appreciated her willingness to serve us as our pastor as well as her willingness to step aside so that we get to know Pastor Kopka before Holy Week.
Pastor Kopka and his wife, Pei (pronounce "Pay"), will worship with us THIS SUNDAY. A "Meet-and-Greet" in the Fellowship Hall will follow the service . Please come out to introduce yourself to him and express your appreciation to Pastor Robin. The Council feels confident that we will have a great interim experience with Pastor Kopka.
As a bit of background, Pastor has served as an interim pastor 3 times in his career, once in the Detroit area, and most recently at Prince of Peace in Addison. He also was the parish pastor for Prince of Peace Lutheran in Woodridge for 10 years, until 2006. He has just returned from a visit to his wife's family in China and is eager to serve us at St. Luke.
God is Good...and as Pastor Kopka chimed at his interview, "All the Time!"
Blessings to one and all,
Roberta Stewart
